Bright Learners Academy, Where Preparation Begins

PRESS RELEASE

Local private pre-school, Bright Learners Academy, is spearheading a drive to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Bright Learners Academy has initiated the” 30 Days of Helping “ fundraising campaign.  In an effort to teach children the importance of giving to those less fortunate than they, BLA’s students are beginning a campaign where they do chores to help their families, neighbors, and community, and raise donations for the benefit of the Shriners Hospitals for Children.   Bright Learners Academy has brought not only their students, but the students from Alvin ISD’s Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary, Mary Marek Elementary, and Nolan Ryan Junior High schools into the campaign.  The hope is that the students will learn the feeling of satisfaction derived from helping others.  The campaign will run from September 15, 2009 until October 15, 2009.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs.  Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no financial obligation to patients or families.

Due to the downturn of the economy, donations to this wonderful organization have slowed although the need for their services has not.  BLA wants their students to learn the importance of helping others, as well as how it feels to work to the benefit of others and begin a lifelong habit of giving of one’s self.  30 Days of Helping” will walk students through this introduction, and start our students down the road to being contributing community members.

The program will wrap up with a concert at the end of the campaign featuring the Disney Road Crew at the Nolan Ryan Junior High School Football field for the volunteers.  Tickets may be earned through chores performed and may also be purchased at a cost of $25.00 to benefit Shriners Hospital.

Sponsors include:

The Greensheet publications, Radio Disney, Houston, and Kroger Grocery stores, The Cracker Barrel Restaurant, Texas Road House Restaurant, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Shadow Creek Subway Store, The Shadow Creek UPS Store.
