Bright Learners Academy, Where Preparation Begins

30 Days of Helping Campaign

Dear Parents,

The Shriners Hospitals for Children will be the beneficiary of a community wide partnership “30 Days of Helping” chore calendar.  This will include student participation from Bright Learners Academy, Mary Marek Elementary school, Laura Ingalls Wilder elementary school, and Nolan Ryan Junior High School.  The purpose of this letter is to familiarize you with the process that we encourage you to follow for the 30 Days of Helping campaign.  For the younger children, we encourage you to limit their chores to your house and the house of close family relatives.  Of course you should be with the child while they perform the chores.  We want the children to be exposed to the opportunity to work, and pass the proceeds on to others in need, but not to any undue risks.   The junior high kids would be a little less restricted, but their safety is just as much a concern for all of us.

That said, we are including a list of chores that you might want to consider.  Add others to the list and keep your child’s abilities and favorite tasks in mind.  This can also be an opportunity for you to work together with your child.  Use the calendar to keep track of the chores for the 30 days.

Suggested chores for Bright Learners and elementary partners:

Sort clothes by color and put clothes in the washer                                          Dust the furniture

The goals of the 30 Days of Helping campaign are,

1)  To raise money for Shriners Hospital for Children,

2)  Teach children the benefits of giving to others

3)  Show children how to be part of a community

Meeting all of these goals may be a challenging endeavor, but most things worthwhile are.  As we strive to reach these goals, we will be building better families, a better community, and a community full of better  citizens for tomorrow.

Thanks in advance,

30 Days of Helping Partnership
